BIO
My name is Lily Celino and am a K-12 Visual Arts Educator. I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching from Maine College of Art and Design (as of May 2024), as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I am originally from Massachusetts, but spent time living and working as a cake decorator in Phoenix, AZ as well as residing in California, Idaho, and New Mexico for the shorter term before moving to Maine. Art has had a place in my life even as I have traveled, exploring painting, sewing, embroidery, jewelry, and other mixed media projects. Making things is at the core of my life in all aspects as is empathy and a deep desire to connect and understand.
As a teacher, I strive to combine my point of view and understanding of people with my practice of art to help students express themselves. I believe that social-emotional learning is essential, and I aim to create a safe space for students that is accepting of all identities and methods of expression, as well as to implement humor and joy into the classroom whenever possible.
